The Russians are shifting to transport terror in Ukraine amid "peace talks". The occupiers have freed up personnel and resources that were previously concentrated on Ukraine’s energy sector, says Yevhen Dykyi, a former company commander of the Aidar Battalion, Radio NV reports.
Genocidal war continues amid US-initiated "peace talks"
Expert Dykyi adds that the Russians may return to attacks on energy infrastructure, as the Kremlin's strategy has not changed and the genocidal war against civilians continues.
“They specifically targeted civilian populations. Now their main tool, the energy terror, is being taken away. And what do they do? They are shifting to transport terror,” emphasizes Dykyi.
Civilian trains and buses under fire: Russia does not stop
The Russians have begun targeting buses and passenger trains, since the energy truce does not protect transport infrastructure.
- On 27 January, Russian drones struck the passenger train “Barvinkove – Lviv – Chop” in Kharkiv Oblast. Dozens of civilians were on board; rescuers recovered four bodies and body fragments.
- On 1 February, Russian forces attacked a work bus near Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, carrying miners after their shift. The strike killed 16 people.
Advisor to the Ukrainian Defense Minister, Serhii Beskrestnov, has stressed that the Russians knew they were killing civilians but made the conscious decision to strike.
