Ukrainian movies go global. Ukrainian director Mstyslav Chernov has been nominated again for the Directors Guild of America (DGA) Awards for his documentary 2000 Meters to Andriivka. He previously won an Oscar award for 20 Days in Mariupol, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Director is nominated for "outstanding directorial achievement"
Chernov’s film is in contention for the 2025 DGA Award for "Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Documentary". The American Directors Guild announced nominees across Television, Documentary, and Commercials categories on 7 January 2026.
The 78th annual ceremony will take place on 7 February at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. Chernov previously won a DGA Award in 2024 for outstanding achievement in documentary filmmaking.
2000 Meters to Andriivka will represent Ukraine at the Oscars
2000 Meters to Andriivka will also represent Ukraine at the 98th Academy Awards in the “Best International Feature Film” category. The Guardian has already included it among the year’s best films.
