The Verkhovna Rada and the EU Parliament synchronously ratified the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. However the Ukrainians’ happiness from the long-anticipated agreement is constrained by the fact that Ukraine will not have a full-fledge free-trade zone with the EU until the end of 2015. The government assures: the agreement in this format is only for the good of the economy, as the customs on European goods will remain and fill the budget. Meanwhile Ukrainian businessmen receive a delay for modernization, and their export to Europe will not be subject to taxation.
