Head of the Iranian parliament’s National Security Commission Ebrahim Azizi says that any assistance from Ukraine to Israel, including drones, would make Ukrainian territory a “legitimate target” for missile strikes by Tehran, as per Iran International.
Iran has become a strategic ally of Russia, supplying it with Shahed loitering munition kamikaze drones and technologies for their mass production on Russian territory.
Since 2022, Moscow has launched around 57,000 of these drones against Ukrainian cities. The Shahed drones have killed hundreds of civilians.
At the same time, Russia continues to modernize these UAVs, enhancing their warhead power, adding the capability to disperse munitions, and improving systems designed to bypass Ukrainian electronic warfare defenses.
Justified target for Islamic Republic after years of Shaheds
On 28 February 2026, the US and Israel announced the start of a large-scale joint operation against the Iranian regime. President Donald Trump stressed that the war is being waged against the ruling elite, not the population.
“Ukraine’s actions in providing assistance to Israel, including drone support, make the entire territory of Ukraine, in accordance with the UN Charter, a legitimate and justified target for the Islamic Republic,” Azizi claimed.
Ukraine becomes global hub for counter-Shahed expertise
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, more than ten countries have already asked Ukraine for assistance in defending against Iranian drones.
“Right now in Ukraine, we have the world’s greatest expertise in countering Shaheds because of this war and the massive attacks,” Zelenskyy said.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump stated that the US does not require Ukraine’s help in intercepting Iranian drones, Fox News reported.
At the same time, US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll said the American military had deployed 10,000 Merops interceptor drones to the Middle East, systems that previously demonstrated effective combat use in Ukraine, as per Bloomberg.
Meanwhile, as the world is only beginning to adapt to Kyiv’s innovative drone interceptors, Ukraine advanced further by deploying operators for next-generation ground robotic systems. These specialists handle logistics, evacuate the wounded, and control combat drones while remaining out of direct danger, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reports.
