A Russian drone struck a civilian enterprise in Kharkiv on the morning of 11 March, killing two people and wounding seven, as part of a wider overnight attack involving 99 strike drones across Ukraine.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed the strike hit a civilian facility. "The hit was on a civilian enterprise. At the moment, two people are dead and five are wounded," he said, later updating the casualty figure to six wounded, then seven.
Regional administration head Oleh Syniehubov reported the strike hit the Shevchenkivskyi district. "Three people were wounded as a result of an enemy UAV strike. All services are working at the scene: State Emergency Service units, emergency medical assistance, the National Police. The wounded are receiving medical care," he said.
Syniehubov added that all seven injured — five women aged 47, 50, and 60, and two men aged 39 and 49, later joined by two more men aged 33 and 36 — are in serious condition. "Preliminarily, all have blast wounds with injuries of varying degrees," he said.
The Kharkiv strike came during a broader overnight assault. According to the Air Force Command, Russia launched 99 strike UAVs of the Shahed, Herber, Italmas, and other types, with around 70 being Shaheds. By 8:30 am, air defenses had downed or suppressed 90 of them across the north, south, and east of the country. Nine drones hit six locations; debris from downed drones fell on three more. Aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, drone units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces all took part in repelling the attack. As of the morning report, several enemy UAVs remained airborne.
Shostka, in Sumy Oblast, was also struck. Mayor Mykola Noha reported on Facebook that drones hit the Shostka community, damaging two administrative buildings, four vehicles, and two residential houses. "Today in the morning, the Russian aggressor attacked the Shostka community with unmanned aerial vehicles," he wrote, noting the attack was still ongoing and no casualties had been reported at the time.
The attack follows a ballistic missile strike on a multi-story residential building in Kharkiv on the night of March 7, which killed 10 people.
