Two assault troops from the "Morok" group, part of Ukraine's 225th Separate Assault Regiment, captured six Russian infantrymen — including their platoon commander — after storming an enemy position, the regiment reported.
The Russian soldiers belonged to the 114th Motor Rifle Regiment, the unit said. Despite outnumbering the Ukrainians three to one, the six did not put up active resistance when offered a chance to surrender.
"During the assault on the enemy shelter, the Ukrainian defenders offered the enemy to lay down their arms," the 225th Regiment said in its statement. The Russian troops "expressed willingness to surrender," the regiment added.
Among the captured was the platoon commander who had been leading the group. Following the surrender, the two Ukrainian assault troops escorted all six prisoners back to Ukrainian-held positions.
The operation marks the latest in a string of results for the "Morok" group. In early February, the same unit destroyed 10 Russian soldiers during an attempted assault on Ukrainian positions, according to the regiment. Video released by the 225th Regiment showed the moment enemy infantry was eliminated as Russian troops tried to retreat from the battlefield and take cover in nearby shelters.
