Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has delivered a harsh message to Russians living in Europe and the US who, at the same time, support Russia’s war machine. Russian elites who live in Europe and the US should "f*** away to Russia," he claimed.
Russian propaganda continues to accuse and threaten the EU and the US, while many officials and their children live abroad and enjoy all the benefits of Western civilization.
He has emphasized that many Russian officials and their families live overseas, study at Western universities, and own property in the US and EU countries — all funded by money earned within a system that finances the war.
Sanctions must hit war's wallet: nuclear sector is still untouched
In a statement on social media, Zelenskyy called on the US and European countries to impose sanctions on Russia’s state nuclear giant Rosatom, as well as on individuals who profit from its activities while living in the West.
According to him, Europeans have done a lot, but sanctions against Russia’s nuclear sector have still not been introduced. He separately stressed that officials and their relatives living in the US and Europe who receive this money are, in effect, benefiting from the Kremlin’s aggressive policies.
Full sanctions — full consequences: fuel for war
Zelenskyy has positively assessed earlier US sanctions against Lukoil and Rosneft, imposed during the presidency of Donald Trump. At the same time, he has stressed that the next logical step should be restrictions against Russia’s entire energy sector, including nuclear energy.
"It will be a powerful message to the Europeans. Full sanctions mean full sanctions," the Ukrainian president emphasized, noting that half-measures only prolong the war because they leave Russia with financial resources to continue it.
Energy revenues are directly converted into missiles and drones that strike Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure every day.
