Ukrainian pilot spots open hatch on retreating Russian SPG — sends drone straight inside for kill (VIDEO)

On the Lyman front, Ukrainian drone operators have destroyed a Russian self-propelled gun (SPG) in three precise hits. The combat footage has been released by the Signum battalion channel of the 53rd Mechanized Brigade, named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh.

The operation took place on the border between Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, a region critically important to Russia’s efforts to exert pressure on Ukraine’s eastern front.

The Signum battalion pilots have hunted the Russian SPG. The Russian forces have attempted to escape but were unable to get away.

Three stages of the operation: from pursuit to a precision finish

The mission has been conducted in three steps, ending with the one where a Ukrainian drone flew right into the open hatch of the Russian deadly system.

Stage one: Pursuit. Ukrainian soldiers acted proactively. Even a Russian anti-drone operator with a rifle could not stop the trajectory, as the first drone hit the target precisely.

Stage two: Finishing. The damaged Russian vehicle began to smoke and attempted to retreat. The second drone strike hit, leaving the Russians trapped.

Stage three: Precision finale. During the third sortie, the Ukrainian pilot noticed an open hatch on the SPG.

“The drone flies straight inside. Explosion, detonation, and a bright finale for the expensive vehicle. This scrap metal will never fire at us again,” the Ukrainian soldiers report.

The successful destruction of the SPG demonstrates the ability of Ukrainian drone operators to respond rapidly and adapt to combat conditions.
