In January, at the height of the "peace negotiations", the Russians began launching more strikes from Crimea, says Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk. The peninsula, which has been occupied since 2014, according to Ranok.LIVE.
“Our temporarily occupied peninsula is being used as a military base and logistical hub,” Pletenchuk says.
There is a corresponding group stationed there whose task is, "so to speak," to defend the occupied territories from liberation by Ukrainian soldiers, he adds.
According to the spokesperson, specific units rotate to the peninsula for restoration and regrouping.

“Unable to operate from sea-based platforms, they use mobile launchers and fire from Crimea," he reveals.
Previously, port infrastructure was prioritized, but last month, other regions of Ukraine were also targeted.
He explains that in Crimea, these launchers are effectively moved in a ‘partisan’ way, constantly changing positions, moving outside populated areas, avoiding main roads, and operating covertly.
According to Pletenchuk, this creates additional difficulties and increases the danger for civilians across Ukraine.
"Peace" negotiations under missiles
Even during negotiations, the Kremlin continues its attacks. This sends a signal to the West that diplomatic agreements with Russia may be unstable without effective mechanisms of control and deterrence.
