Ukraine needs to inflict losses of around 50,000 Russian troops per month on Ukrainian territory. This is a level of casualties Russia would most likely be unable to replenish, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says.
“It's the optimal level at which Russia will begin to seriously weigh what it is doing and what it is fighting for,” the Ukrainian president states.
A level that Moscow cannot compensate for
Zelenskyy says achieving this goal is primarily possible through drones of various types, thorough analysis, lessons learned from combat operations, and a high level of training and coordination among units.
Ensuring such losses for Russian soldiers, he adds, is the responsibility of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, the army, and all Defense and Security Forces.
Drones, depth, and destruction of Russian logistics
The president says the experience of Ukraine’s most effective drone units must be scaled across the entire armed forces. At the same time, he stresses that inflicting enemy losses cannot be the sole objective of drone and technology development.
“It is crucial to expand control of the battlespace deeper beyond the front lin to destroy Russian logistics, drone operators, and, overall, the enemy’s capacity as an occupying force,” Zelenskyy emphasizes.
Interceptors against Shaheds: technological race continues
According to Zelenskyy, strengthening defenses against Russian Shahed drones, other strike UAVs, and reconnaissance drones is also essential. Ukraine needs more interceptor systems.
“The evolution of our interceptors must keep pace with changes in Russian strike drones. Ukraine must maintain leadership and prevail in every cycle of technological development,” the president says.
