In Kyiv, nearly 1,700 apartment apartment blocks remain without heating following a series of Russian missile and drone attacks earlier this month, according to Mayor Vitalii Klitschko. The capital is still struggling to restore basic services after its critical infrastructure was damaged during the strikes on 9, 20, and 24 January.
Thousands still without heating in Kyiv
Vitalii Klitschko reported on 25 January that 1,676 high-rise apartment buildings in Kyiv are still disconnected from the heating supply after the most recent Russian assault on 24 January. The city had lost heating in nearly 6,000 buildings that day due to widespread infrastructure damage, and restoration efforts are still underway.
“Currently, 1,676 apartment buildings in Kyiv remain without heating after the enemy’s attack on the capital on 24 January,” Klitschko said this morning
The Kyiv mayor noted that this latest disruption followed earlier strikes on 9 and 20 January, during which many of the same buildings were already disconnected and then reconnected or partially restored.
Municipal and energy repair teams have managed to restore heating to over 1,600 buildings since the evening of 24 January and continue working to reconnect the remaining affected homes, accordin to the mayor.
Earlier on 24 January, Klitschko said around 3,300 apartment buildings were still without heating following the latest Russian airstrike, and that utilities were working in emergency mode to restore the city’s essential services.
