Ukraine struck the Tamannneftegaz oil terminal in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai overnight on 21-22 January, igniting multiple fuel tanks and damaging critical infrastructure, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Ukrainian forces strike key oil hub in Krasnodar Krai
Ukrainian drones carried out a large-scale assault on targets in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai and neighboring Adygea, damaging oil infrastructure and sparking fires, Governor Veniamin Kondratyev claimed. He stated that four fuel tanks caught fire at the Taman port terminal, operated by the company Tamannneftegaz, located in the settlement of Volna.
According to the regional emergency headquarters, open fire was allegedly extinguished at one tank while another ignition source was fully put out. Two more tanks were still burning overnight but were allegedly fully extinguished by morning.
Kondratyev claimed that two people were allegedly injured in the Takhtamukai district of Adygea, adjacent to Krasnodar Krai. In Afipsky where an oil refinery is located, drone debris reportedly landed near an apartment building, with one piece being a warhead. Additionally, two detached houses were allegedly damaged in the town of Primorsko-Akhtarsk — home to a Russian airbase from where they launch Shahed long-range kamikaze drones, targeting Ukraine.
General Staff confirms attack on Tamannneftegaz terminal
Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed the attack on the Tamannneftegaz oil terminal in Volna, stating that explosions and fire were recorded at the site. The military said the facility plays a role in supporting Russian armed forces and the damage assessment is ongoing.
Militarnyi reported that local media in Russia said air raid alerts began around 5:00 p.m. on 21 January, though the exact timing of the strike was not disclosed. The type of munitions used in the attack remains unspecified.
Ukrainian Telegram channel Exilenova+ shared a photo of a distant fire at the facility around 23:00 on 21 January.
Previous strikes on the same oil terminal
This marks at least the third Ukrainian strike on the Tamannneftegaz terminal since late December. Overnight on 22 December 2025, Ukrainian drones targeted the same facility, damaging a pipeline, two piers, and two vessels. The resulting fire covered more than 1,000 square meters and took Russian emergency services over a day to extinguish.
Another confirmed Ukrainian strike occurred overnight on 31 December, hitting two oil pier structures at the terminal near Volna.
