Norway plans to integrate Ukrainian-made interceptors or effectors into the NASAMS air defense system. This way, these weapons will become more effective and cheaper, says Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide, the European Pravda reports.
On 12 January, Eide came to Ukraine on an official visit.
Partnership for cheaper and more scalable interceptors
According to Eide, Norway is working to provide Ukraine with a larger number of missiles while also developing partnerships with Ukraine’s defense industry.
“So that we can have cheaper weapons in larger quantities, because the problem is that the typical missiles used today are expensive and available in limited numbers,” the minister explained.
$400 million in aid: for teachers and medical workers
On the same day, Espen Barth Eide announced a $400 million aid package for Ukraine. They will be directed toward supporting the energy sector and ensuring the continued functioning of the Ukrainian state.
Specifically, the financing will cover salaries for teachers, medical workers, and civil servants, as well as pensions and social payments.
