A Ukrainian military intelligence unit struck multiple Russian air defense assets in occupied Crimea in the days leading up to Christmas, according to HUR, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The special operation targeted high-value systems from Russia’s S-300V and the Buk-M3 surface-to-air system's components.
HUR confirms strikes on radar, launchers, and command systems
HUR reported that operators from its Prymary (“Ghosts”) special unit carried out a precision raid on occupied territory, destroying multiple Russian military installations. Among the confirmed targets was a S-300V launcher, a platform capable of intercepting ballistic missiles.
In addition, the Ukrainian unit hit components from the Buk-M3 system. HUR said that its operators destroyed a Redut-221 command and control vehicle, as well as an RSP-6M2 precision approach radar system.
The list of destroyed targets also included a 9S36M illumination and guidance radar, which is a key fire control element within the Buk-M3 surface-to-air missile complex.
HUR reported that the raid also targeted a fortified military structure used for storing weapons and equipment. The agency noted that two Russian servicemen were present near the structure at the time of the strike.
The agency shared the kamikaze-drone-view footage of the strikes.
Previous strike on maritime drone hub in Crimea
As previously reported, Ukrainian defense forces conducted a separate strike overnight on 24 December. That operation targeted a site used for storing and servicing naval drones in the area of Myrne on the occupied Crimean peninsula.
