More than half of the weapons currently used by the Ukrainian army are domestically produced, says Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko while speaking with journalists.
“Today, more than 50% of the weapons in the Ukrainian military are produced in Ukraine,” Svyrydenko emphasizes.
Budget focuses on Ukraine’s defense industry
Svyrydenko also reports that in 2025, more than 75% of all funds allocated for the procurement of weapons and military equipment were spent on Ukrainian manufacturers.
“We clearly understand that the army is our guarantee of security. That is why one of the key targets for 2026 is further increasing the share of Ukrainian-made weapons on the front line and strengthening Ukraine’s ability to independently provide for its defense,” the Ukrainian prime minister notes.
Adapting to war and cooperation with the military
Svyrydenko separately thanked Ukrainian arms producers, both state-owned and private, for their constant cooperation with the military and their ability to adapt production to the changing battlefield.
According to her, manufacturers are continuously working on:
- expanding production capacity;
- improving weapons effectiveness;
- rapidly adapting to new tactical conditions of the war.
Self-reliant defense as the foundation of economic resilience
Svyrydenko stresses that developing domestic defense production is not only a security priority, but also an economic one.
“It is critically important for us to ensure the self-sufficiency of defense production. This is a direct path to the resilience of our economy and our state,” the Ukrainian prime minister concludes.
In 2025, Ukraine developed its first domestically built laser-targeting drone for use on the battlefield. The R-34-T can illuminate targets for guided bombs and artillery rounds across Defense Forces units.
