Ukrainian defense forces confirmed a successful airstrike on a Russian oil refinery that supplies fuel to Moscow’s occupation army, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The attack was carried out on 25 December using Storm Shadow air-launched cruise missiles.
Ukrainian missiles hit major fuel hub in Rostov Oblast
The General Staff said that Ukrainian Air Force units struck the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery located in Russia’s Rostov Oblast. The facility sustained direct hits, and multiple explosions were recorded following the strike. The full extent of the damage is still being clarified.
Novoshakhtinsk is located next to the occupied border section of Donetsk Oblast, about 200 km from the frontline.
The refinery is described as one of the largest fuel suppliers in southern Russia and plays a critical role in supporting the Russian armed forces. According to Ukraine’s military, the site provides diesel fuel and aviation kerosene to Russian occupation forces operating in Ukrainian territory.

The refinery’s total storage capacity exceeds 210,000 cubic meters, underscoring its logistical importance. The strike aimed to weaken the military-economic potential of the Russian Federation and disrupt its capacity to continue its armed aggression, according to the military.
Earlier today, the Ukrainian Telegram channel Exilenova+ shared photos and videos of a distant fire from Novoshakhtinsk, and stated that Ukraine has targeted the oil refinery in the city.
Kyiv emphasizes continued targeting of war-linked infrastructure
Ukraine’s General Staff emphasized that its defense forces are taking necessary steps to degrade Russia’s ability to wage war. The military noted that operations like the 25 December strike are part of a broader strategy to force the Russian Federation to end its invasion.
No further details were provided on the precise level of destruction or follow-up actions. However, the Ukrainian military framed the confirmed strike as part of a calculated campaign to pressure Moscow through strategic hits on critical supply nodes supporting frontline operations.
As Euromaidan Press reported earlier today, last night, Ukrainian drones struck a Russian oil depot in the port of Temryuk next to occupied Crimea.
