The Special Operations Forces (SSO) of the Ukrainian Army struck a Russian ammunition depot in the occupied part of Luhansk Oblast overnight on 17 December, targeting a key logistics hub located deep behind Russian lines, according to the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces.
Ukraine continues its daily long-range strikes on Russian military, fuel, and defense-industry targets inside Russia, while also intensifying mid-range attacks on Russian military sites in occupied Ukrainian territories.
Ukrainian drones strike 150 km deep into occupied Luhansk
The depot belonged to the 101st separate material-technical support brigade of the Russian 51st Combined Arms Army and was located in the village of Novoborovytsi, just near the border with Russia. The Special Operations Forces say their units carried out the strike using FP-2 combat drones, which are domestically developed by Fire Point and designed for mid-range precision strikes.
Novoborovytsi lies about 80 km south of occupied Luhansk city and around 150 km from the front line.
The site had been actively supplying ammunition and sustaining the offensive capabilities of Russian forces in the area, according to SSO.
The drone footage released after the strike shows multiple warehouses positioned separately and divided by protective blast berms being hit in sequence.

The aerial imagery helped confirm the facility’s location in Novoborovytsi, with X user Miki RuizdeValbuena verifying it by matching visible features in the footage.
FP-2: Ukraine’s mid-range strike drone
The FP-2 drone, used in the operation, is a Ukrainian-made unmanned aerial vehicle built by Fire Point. It is a modified version of the FP-1, which was originally designed for long-range missions. The FP-2 carries a payload of 105 kg and has a combat radius of 200 km, making it capable of deep rear strikes like the one on Novoborovytsi.
"Special Operations Forces continue to conduct asymmetric actions to undermine the offensive potential of the Russian army," SSO wrote.
