Terrorist attack in Kyiv: bomb kills National Guardsman, second device explodes when medics arrive

Kyiv authorities are investigating two explosions in the Darnytskyi district of the city as a terrorist act, the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office said on Thursday.

The first blast occurred while two National Guard servicepeople were patrolling the area. One of them was killed, and the other, along with a site security guard, was injured.

A second explosion happened after police and medical teams arrived at the scene. Two police officers were wounded in that blast.

Preliminary reports indicate that both incidents involved improvised explosive devices.

The case is being handled by investigators from the Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast offices of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), under the procedural guidance of the city prosecutor’s office.
