Canada is committing an additional $200 million to purchase US weapons for Ukraine through NATO's PURL mechanism, Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced ahead of a NATO ministerial meeting in Brussels, Yevropeiska Pravda reports.

"I am pleased to announce that Canada, together with other allies, will procure a package of military capabilities through the PURL program, which is NATO's mechanism for military support to Ukraine," Anand said, according to European Pravda.

The new contribution brings Canada's total commitment under the PURL program to $890 million. Canada had previously joined the US procurement initiative and is now significantly increasing its participation.

Beyond weapons purchases, Canada is extending $35 million through the Comprehensive Assistance Package, raising its contribution to that fund to $180 million. "This fund will help finance fuel procurement, cover medical purchases, communications and other needs," Anand explained.

The announcement comes as multiple NATO partners unveiled major increases in military aid this week. Norway committed an additional half billion dollars for US weapons for Ukrainian forces, while Germany also allocated extra funds for US arms procurement.

European diplomats have simultaneously rejected Vladimir Putin's conditions for negotiations with the United States, declaring: "We will not accept a new Yalta," according to diplomatic sources.
