Zelenskyy: Ukraine produced first 100 missile weapons

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed on 9 November that Ukraine has reached a milestone in domestic arms production.

This year, Ukraine manufactured its first hundred units of missile weapons, and it plans to increase production capacity.

“We have crossed the mark of the first hundred units of missile weapons this year,” Zelenskyy said in his evening address.

The president didn’t provide specific details about the weapons.

Western and EU countries have been slightly decreasing their military aid to Ukraine as their stockpiles allegedly replenish. Building domestic arms production would help ensure Ukraine’s long-term security by reducing dependence on foreign military aid while also potentially allowing it to become an arms supplier to NATO allies in the future.

The President outlined several areas of progress in Ukraine’s defense industry, including producing artillery shells, guns, and various types of drones.

These drones, according to Zelenskyy, are “not only helping the front to defend positions and destroy the Russian occupying forces but also striking Russia at increasing depth.”

According to the president, over 800 companies manufacture weapons for Ukraine’s defense and security forces. The country has also secured international investment models for defense production, particularly with Denmark and France.

“Denmark’s model involves investing funds and attracting investments in production,” Zelenskyy said.

He added that Ukraine agreed with France on a slightly different model, also involving technologies for building appropriate production facilities.

The President also mentioned preliminary agreements with other partners regarding the localization of weapons production in Ukraine, saying that “this is what will constantly strengthen us.”
