Ukraine and Mauritius approve visa-free agreement

Ukraine and Mauritius have signed an agreement allowing their citizens to travel between the two countries without visas for up to 90 days, as announced by a Ukrainian government representative.

Ukraine and Mauritius approve visa-free agreement

Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers and Mauritius’s government of the Republic approved an agreement on mutual visa requirement cancellation, Taras Melnychuk, the Cabinet’s representative in the Verkhovna Rada, said.

According to Melnychuk, the agreement stipulates the introduction of a visa-free regime for mutual trips of citizens of Ukraine and the Republic of Mauritius, holding all types of passport documents for up to 90 days.

The agreement was signed in August 2024 in Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius.

This development follows Mauritius’ participation in the Global Peace Summit, which was held in Switzerland in July 2024. The country signed the summit’s communiqué.

Since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Mauritius maintained a delicate diplomatic balance. While officially condemning the invasion and supporting Ukraine’s territorial integrity in line with UN resolutions, Mauritius has not imposed sanctions on Russia.

The island nation has sought to preserve its economic ties with both countries, given its reliance on tourism and investment from various global partners.
