The American Academy of Achievement has awarded Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the Golden Plate Award, Zelensky wrote on Telegram on 23 September.
The award, which has been presented for 60 years to recognize contributions to human progress, was given to Zelenskyy during his visit to the United States.
“The American Academy of Achievement’s Golden Plate Award. For 60 years, it has recognized contributions to human development. For ingenuity that can only be realized in conditions of freedom,” Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram channel.
The Ukrainian president emphasized the importance of freedom in the current global context. “Today’s world does not allow us to lose any battle when freedom is on one side and everything we would never wish for our children is on the other,” he said. Zelenskyy added, “We all need victory. And we all know why.”
The Golden Plate Award has also been presented to US Presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama, as well as Nobel and Pulitzer Prize laureates.
Zelenskyy’s US visit began with a tour of an ammunition factory in Scranton, where shells and mines are produced for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. During his visit, the Ukrainian president also stated that the coming months would be decisive in the war with Russia.
