On 17 February, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that multiple drones were intercepted overnight over several of Russia’s oblasts.
According to the Russian ministry, the attack involved 33 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) targeting locations within the Russian Federation. The statement detailed that the drones were intercepted and destroyed by air defense systems over the territories of Belgorod (4 UAVs), Voronezh (4 UAVs), Kursk (1 UAV), Bryansk (18 UAVs), and Kaluga (6 UAVs) oblasts.
The ministry’s announcement did not include any specific details regarding the intended targets of the drones.
Ukrainian officials have yet to comment on the alleged attack.
