Bulgaria suspends all “South Stream” projects 


The decision was made due to violations of European Commission requirements

Bulgaria suspended all projects dealing with the construction of the “South Stream” gas pipeline because of their discordance with European Commission requirements.

The corresponding order was signed by the Minister of Economics and Energy of the caretaker government in Bulgaria, Vasyl Shtonov.

According to the document, Bulgaria will resume the project when it complies with European Commission demands.

“Minister of Economics and Energy Vasyl Shtonov ordered the Bulgarian Energy Holding to suspend any work on the project, as it is not in accordance with European Commission demands,” says the notification.
