Euromaidan Press recently connected with Daniel Christian, who made this tribute song for Ukraine, now popular on radio and social media.

He answered questions about how this video came to be made, about his hopes for the future and his upcoming projects.

Daniel Christian is from Nigeria, but has also lived in Ukraine, Sweden, Poland, and the Netherlands. He enjoys football, meeting new people and trap music. He came to Ukraine to study, and lived in Luhansk, a city in eastern Ukraine now no longer controlled by the country’s government. He was in Luhansk when the troubles began and says he “witnessed everything first hand.”

“Inspired by God,” he says that he began writing music and performing in Ukraine, and discovered his talent. As a result, he says, “Ukraine is a part of me.”

The motivation for this song actually came from his father, who thought “it would be a good idea to write a song of hope for the people of Ukraine especially in this hard period.”

Filming took place in Lviv and Kyiv. Kolly Dee “blessed the chorus with his great voice,” Oleg of Mordax Bastard provided the instrumentals and Andrey Mishin of Kyiv Sound Studio did the mixing and mastering. The video was directed by Katya Rybka.

Christian is delighted with the reception the song has received in Ukraine, but laments that it has upset some people, as “it was never intended to hurt anyone’s feelings.”

When asked about his hopes for Ukraine, this is what he said:
“On the way to greatness you encounter obstacles but it’s up to you to stay strong and focus. Ukraine has everything to become GREAT, it just needs time, hard work and prayers.”
Christian is working on a mixtape due to be released next year. In the meantime, fans can follow him on his social media pages:

“A special thanks to all my supporters and people who have shared and liked, disliked and commented on my video. God bless you all,” was Christian’s good-bye message.
