The video “A Year of Freedom. Mariupol after ‘DNR’” made by Ivan Syniepalov for Public television of Azov presents an overview of the events that took place in the port city of Mariupol in south-eastern Ukraine in the summer of 2014. At that time, a group of pro-Russian terrorists took over the city council and announced the birth of yet another “DNR” territory. The bandits attacked the military garrison and burned public buildings. Just like in Sloviansk and Luhansk, they brought lawlessness and fear to a previously peaceful Ukrainian city. On June 13, 2014 they were thrown out of Mariupol thanks to the joint operation of battalions Azov, Dnipro-1 battalions, and the National Guard.

On June 13, 2015 the residents of Mariupol celebrated their first anniversary of freedom from the “DNR” terrorists.
