Ukraine‬ launches probe against Russian ‘investigators’ over case fabrication

The Ukrainian‬ Prosecutor-General’s Office has launched a criminal case against officials of the Russian Investigations Committee, 5 Kanal TV reported at 08:27 Kyiv‬ time on 30 September. They are accused of three crimes: aiding a terrorist organization, hindering the work of a law-enforcement official and a state official.

Four months ago the Russians set up a special department within theInvestigations Committee, which started fabricating cases against Ukrainian servicemen, in particular against Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko, unidentified servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and members of the National Guard for alleged shelling of Donbas.

On 29 September the Russian Investigations Committee launched a criminal case into “genocide” against the Russian-speaking population of south-eastern Ukraine.
