Chief Military prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoliy Matios announced that over 518 soldiers out of 313,000 participating in combat in Eastern Ukraine have committed suicide.

“In the first two months of 2018, we’ve recorded two to three suicides per week, which means 16 soldiers have committed suicide since the beginning of this year. This information was recently issued by the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations. Most of these suicide cases involve very young boys born in 1995-1998.” said Matios.

He added that in 2017, the budget for psychological rehabilitation allocated by the state amounted to only 0.1% of the total. In 2018, financing will be increased and 109 million UAH will be allocated for psychological assistance and PTSD treatment.
