Take a walk in the Kyiv metro

If you want to feel the atmosphere of a city, go to its metro. The Kyiv Metro officials say that during the 10 months of 2016, the metro had transported almost 400 million passengers.

However, not only people define the atmosphere of the underground. Its first 5 stations were built in 1960. Now it has 3 lines,  52 stations, and none of them look similar. It is like a huge museum telling different stories. Until recent days, some stations resembled museums of communism. After decommunization policies coming into force, some red symbols, slogans, and monuments of famous communist figures were replaced or just removed. However, some of them are still hiding inside the decorations of the stations.

The Kyiv metro is not as luxurious as Moscow’s. But even the simplest and ugliest stations have details which make them different from the others.

Kyiv blogger tov_tob took pictures of the night stations of the Kyiv metro. Euromaidan Press added a few more details to prove the statement that no two stations of the Kyiv metro are alike.
