Celox, thermal scope and many other valuable items were delivered to the Ukraine’s defenders at the end of May in the seventh donation cargo by Latvian volunteers “SOS palīdzība ukrainas armijai” (SOS Help for Ukrainian Army).

Among the already traditional uniforms, boots and various camp and base stuff (e.g. backpacks, matrasses, batteries, working tools, cables, field shower, cleansing tools, medicine, laptops) Latvians donated more sophisticated items – from special sniper masking costume and electricity generator to car tires and a thermal imaging scope, bought for the money collected through the special campaign in local social media.

Curious moment happened at the Polish-Ukrainian border crossing, when this thermal scope had its ‘star moment’ among Ukrainian border guards. Seems like everyone wanted to have a look on the expensive, highly estimated and well-proved lifesaving equipment.

Forty-four “Celox Z Fold Gauze” haemostatic treatment packs, designed to clot blood were bought on site, in Kyiv, spending the 1485 euros that the association collected through the Rīga charity auction “With Art for Peace” in March.

At the currency exchange office, where the charity-collected euros exchanged for hryvnias, the association experienced one more act of universal Ukrainian solidarity – upon hearing where this money will be spent to, the office decided to offer a better exchange deal.

Ten packages of Celox were delivered to the 13th Voluntary Ukrainian Battalion (DUK) and 34 packages went to the 11th DUK battalion.

This time, Latvian association “SOS palīdzība Ukrainas armijai” was followed by the team of the Latvian National television and its documentary on this cargo and experienced in Ukraine, while visiting training camps on the 11th Ukrainian Voluntary battalion DUK, will be broadcasted on the National LTV1 in a due time.
