Freedom is leading the Ukrainian nation

Political and social processes will never be completed until society changes its very moral core through the sexual revolution.

When in continuation of the Revolution of Dignity came the war with the ex-Metropolis, it didn’t seem like a granted event. Of course, there have always been the forces wishing to change the course of the revolutionary process, resist it. But the war! To choose war in the 21st century could only a man who does not understand the processes which he had chosen to resist.

The revolution is like love. You either believe in it wholeheartedly or believe that all that it is are just “drools for wide eyed idealists”. Besides the main signs of revolution like the change of government, rapid social change or in the structure of government and class in society suggest that the revolution can not be completed in one even two steps, or in one year, and sometimes – in decades. It is a process that has its reasons, subject to it’s own laws, and will not end until the change of the basis come to its logical conclusion. The world works in such a funny way that when the Fate takes charge of the business, everything that tries to resist it, is a part of the process, and therefore only accelerates the inevitable.

Already there is a joke running among the Ukrainians that some day we should erect a monument to Vladimir Putin, in some grim place, some monument that would be appropriate for the monster, who, while fighting against our revolution, only accelerated it’s current. In my view, the best monument would be the Ukraine we dream of. But – it’s all up to the Future. Right now – we are talking about something else.

The point is that all that that man is doing – from the shooting of the Maidan, which only brought society closer to understanding that the matter can’t be left unfinished; then – annexation of Crimea, which clarified that he does not respect any rules and that we will have to fight for our own rights; and then Donbas – a sad evidence of the fact that Putin does not need a Soviet Union – he needs a radioactive soviet ashes, which could continuously poison the minds of those who is gullible and marginalized – in the entire world. And then – shooting of the city of Mariupol, and today, Kramatorsk – a clear message that it will be done to everyone, who would dare to merely live, to merely love it’s own land, merely strive for liberty. And all of that is only nudging Ukrainians to fight, forming them, stripping them of their childish illusions.

When I think about what people are going through – those who, just yesterday, had considered the bombing of peaceful cities, killings and torturing as something unthinkable;  what are they going through while watching it all happening on their own doorsteps.  A photograph comes to my mind – the one that became an epitome of what war is for me; of what the pure evil is. Some black and white photograph, on which a murdered Asian woman lying on the dirt road. A solder with a weapon standing over her, and the child, who just lost his mother is crying. He is too young to comprehend what just occurred; he is just scared; and he is reaching with his hands out to the man, who just made him an orphan. That is the effect that Vladimir Putin is counting on when he demonstratively shells peaceful neighborhoods;  and that is the thing, that will never happen, because Ukrainians are rapidly maturing instead. Because The Revolution of Dignity have released the potential for the growth and the maturation of the entire nation is inevitable. For me specifically those things embody the fundamental changes which allow us to say: “Yes, we are living through a revolution. We are going through the revolutionary process with dignity.”

But there is also another part of the matter, inevitable for any revolution, a very important psychological aspect, which was pointed by Freud and Reich. Political and social processes of the revolution will never be completed if a society does not change the moral principles – a sexual revolution. A release of the energy that is Life itself. The meaning of “sexual revolution”  is – changing the images of male and female. A new stereotype of a gender, the ideals to which every Member of society begins to strive in order to be attractive and to matter. So, the wearing make up barons are gone succumbing to the pressure of the young and fearless “Incorruptible”. So big-bellied, know-how-to-live “tough economists” have fallen before the faces of real manhood, which, for us, the biologists with wooden boards [on Maidan – L.S.] and “cyborgs” in the Donetsk steppe have embodied.

And there is another image yet. The image that is arising more and more clearly defined even from the clutches of “Sailor’s Silence” [Russian prison-hospital – L.S.] I am talking about Nadiya Savchenko. Our hope is that we will never go back to the standards of “successful people” which our post-colonial society was befuddled into a few years ago. Therefore, the standards of conduct used by the worst of the us to achieve their success in life, every day will be all the more inadmissible against the backdrop of new men and women calling themselves Ukrainians.

She, like the Freedom in a painting by the French artist Eugène Delacroix, leading the people to the barricades. Nude in her purity and sincerity and fearless in her righteous rage. Due to those like Nadiya Savchenko, Ukrainians have received a powerful image which will never allow to turn back. Nadiya Savchenko – the way she is – represents for us a symbol of  what we can and should become.

The fact that such powerful new images–symbols of our national struggle have emerged on our horizons as a result of Maidan, the Revolution of Dignity, the war that was waged against us  – means that sooner or later our revolution will be completed. And no Vladimir Putin will be  able to stand on the way of that.
