January 5: – Official statements regarding the summaries of the discussions regarding Ukraine in the “Normandic Format” on the level of the directors of the political departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Russia, France and Germany, which began on Monday in Berlin, did not take place.

Official results of the summary of negotiations is not planned, since “the meeting has a technical character.” The discussions will conclude by the end of the day; information about carrying on the discussion on a ministry level, “still does not exist”. It is not planned to continue the discussion tomorrow or after tomorrow.

Some special decisions which could change the situation in Donbas from the “Normandic Format” on the level of the directors of the departments, no one expects. We remind all, that there was earlier information that the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of France, Russia, Ukraine, and Germany will discuss the situation in Donbas on January 8-9th.

January 5 – No Ukrainian military has died, 1 was wounded in the ATO area in the last 24 hours, – said NSDC spokesman Andriy Lysenko. The terrorists have captured 7 Ukrainian servicemen, – said the Head of Prisoner Exchange Center Volodymyr Ruban.

January 5 – Managing Director of Ukrainian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (UVCA) Jaanika Merilo, was appointed an Advisor to the Minister for Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavičius. Mrs.Merilo is also an Advisor to the Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee of Estonian parliament.

January 5 – The cost of Brent crude oil fell below 53 USD a barrel (according to trading at ICE exchange in London). Due to such a sharp fall of oil prices, ruble depreciates against US dollar and euro. As of 7:40 pm, the US dollar exchange rate rose by 3.80 rubles to 59.80 rubles, and euro by 2.57 rubles to 71.22 rubles.

February 8 – Number of victims of the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine could have reached 50 thousand people – data stated by the newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAS), while referring to German secret service. Thus almost 10 times more people could have died in combat compared to official data.

February 8 – Disconnection of Russian banks from the international payment system SWIFT would create a worse relationship between the West and RF. This was stated by the Head of VTB bank, Andriy Kostin, according to TACC. He stated that the sanctions geared against RF, are proof of the economic war against Moscow. "This is how it is, all the attempts which are approved by the West – are methods of carrying on an economic war, trading, financial, said Kostin. "Disconnection from SWIFT – the usage of significantly of much more powerful "arms" in this war and, obviously,will mean a serious worsemimg of the general climate and the overall situation in relations with the West," he noted.
