Ukrainian Parliament to examine the issue of banning Russian TV series on Monday

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Turchynov will initiate the discussion of the issue of banning Russian TV series on Ukrainian TV channels at the Monday Parliament session, reports the Ukrainian Parliament website.

“I fully support the position of the commands regarding the fact that it is unacceptable to broadcast media products, TV series in particular, which make the enemies of our country and those who started and supports the war in Ukraine into heroes, on Ukrainian TV channels,” Turchynov said.

Volunteer battalion commands addressed an open letter to President Petro Poroshenko with the petition to “cover the information rear.” This was reported on Saturday at the National Defense Headquarters in Dnipropetrovsk oblast. The letter was signed by command of troop Dnipro-1 Yury Bereza, command of Donbas battalion Semen Semenchenko and command of Myrotvorets battalion Andriy Teteruk. According to them, they are indignant with the policies of Ukrainian TV channels, in particular, the presence of Russian propaganda on them. They asked Poroshenko to stop “broadcasting Russian propaganda in the shape of media products, including series, film, entertainment programs, in which our enemies are shown in an inspirational and idealized way.”
