Russian soldiers and officers who invaded Ukraine will not sustain a long war because they are not finding a reason to die for in our country.
This was stated by Semen Semenchenko, the commander of the Donbas battalion, in an interview with “Obozrevatel.”
“The Russians are reacting very sharply to the cognitive dissonance. During negotiations they expect to see the Ukrainian fascists portrayed on Russian television, but instead they see officers just like themselves – it often leads to a re-evaluation of values for these soldiers,” – he said.
“Many of them can not believe that they are in the “Nazi” Ukraine! And when they see dignified resistance and acts of self-sacrifice, which stereotypical “punitive” troops can not have, much is changing in their minds. This is already happening. Guys participating in negotiations told me about this,”- said Semenchenko.
“Primarily for this reason, Putin’s army will not sustain a long war. They will not find the answer here to the question of what they are dying for. But we have that answer!” – added the commander of the Donbas battalion.
At the same time the ceasefire in the east of Ukraine, established as a result of the Minsk agreement, is regarded as a breather.
“I regard [the Minsk agreement] as an opportunity for respite. But this respite will benefit us only if we utilize it properly. For example, today I’m doing everything I can, while not paying attention to all the psychological warfare conducted against us right now, so our battalion will be at its maximal combat capability and will be ready for current challenges. Namely – the war with the Russian career military! We prevailed over them even in the most critical situations and must continue to do it further”- Semenchenko explained.
