24 hours of daily hate

Dmytro Tuzov, TV journalist, political observer

The five minutes of hate on Russian television have turned into a 24/7 reality show in the self-arousing hysteria genre

Guests from Ukraine came to Mr. Solovyov’s talk show. Oleg Tsariov was absolutely seriously presented as the “head of the Novorossiya Parliament.” If not for the war and thousands of casualties, it would be relevant to mention the story of Kisa Vorobyaninov as the father of Russian democracy. But there is no room for jokes here – they are ready to destroy the neighboring country for this Kremlin-invented ‘Novorossiya.’ Member of the Verkhovna Rada Yelena Bondarenko expressed her “support for Oleg.” The saturation of Russian citizens with the help of the TV screens, the increase of hate towards Ukrainians to an off-the-charts level went on regularly – together with the use of heavy artillery and missile launch systems. The studio talked about, for example, the legalization of Satanism in Ukraine and, to counter it, the protection of spiritual values in Russia: Orthodox Christianity and Islam. Speaking of Islam: not a single world was said about the searches in Crimean mosques and the prohibition on Mustafa Dzhemilev’s entry to the peninsula.

Yelena Bondarenko’s verbal ammunition destroyed all the humanitarian aid the people of Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities had provided for refugees from Donetsk. Over 140 thousand people have moved to these other cities (UN data). The woman said that she saw a tent in Moscow where they collected aid for the citizens of eastern Ukraine and said that there is no such tent in Kyiv. Bondarenko concluded that this meant that the Kyivans have long since rejected the citizens of Donbas and stopped considering them their compatriots.

It is a pity that the member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Party of Regions did not see the volunteers, dozens of organizations such as Donbas SOS working 24/7 to gather aid: food, clothing, children’s strollers, who are meeting refugees at the railway stations, accommodating them, helping them with employment. Yelena Bondarenko also failed to notice the numerous activists, and entire groups whose contacts can be found online. And she simply paid no mind to regular people, without whose aid and participation all of these volunteer initiatives would have had no sense. School supplies for refugee children were collected not in a simple tent in Moscow, but in Kyiv’s Children’s World. Using the funds of regular Ukrainian business people and citizens of Ukraine. These instances in the everyday lives of Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Odesa, Lviv, Mykolayiv and other Ukrainian cities possibly don’t count. We need a tent! If there is no tent, that means you are Nazis and the junta.

These words that were so easily said by ladies and gentlemen in the studio in Moscow are probably familiar to every child sitting in front of the television screen. It is not surprising: if you switch to a Russian TV channel, you can see a cartoon in which the children are shown how the Ukrainian aviation is bombing Donbas. Mass fire at Ukrainian territory by Russian missile launch systems were not shown in the cartoon. Tanks with Russian flags that cross the Ukrainian border in columns also remained outside the frame.

With all due respect, TV in Russia teaches to hate Ukraine so passionately, until the dying breath and loss of common sense. This technology has become absolute. This is the way Hitler taught to hate Jews once. For everyone. For the very fact that they existed in the world. Of course, enlightenment will come to the Russians sooner or later. Putin and his regime are not eternal. The only question is how many more people will suffer in this undeclared war of the empire for influence and resources in the east of Ukraine. How many will die, leave their homes, fleeing invasion, death and looting? How many more cities will be burned by those cursed Grads and Tornados?

And we shouldn’t be surprised at the volunteers, mercenaries, instructors and advisors from the Russian Federation that go to war in Ukraine. The world views of these people was formed by a simple TV set. In particular, the people who live inside. And, of course, those who are commandeering the process of turning television into a weapon of mass destruction of a new generation. It is a great pity that people from the Ukrainian Parliament are participating in this hellish TV format.
