Girkin may work for partner of French politician

Russian terrorist leader Igor Girkin (alias Strelkov) works for a company owned by Russian oligarch Konstantin Malofeev, who is a partner of French politician Philippe de Villiers, who has agreed to build an amusement park in Russian-occupied Crimea.

As reported by UNIAN correspondent in Poland, this was announced Tuesday, August 19, in Warsaw by the deputy president of the EuroNest Parliamentary Assembly, Richard Charnetski.

“The supervisory board of Malofeev’s company includes Igor Strelkov (Girkin) — leader of the separatists in Donetsk,” Charnetski said.

The politician told UNIAN that he received the information about the former self-proclaimed minister of defense of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic from colleagues in France.

However, he said he does not know how long Strelkov has been on the supervisory board and for which specific company owned by the Russian oligarch, noting that he possibly still holds the position “if he is still alive.”

Charnetski pointed out that it is Malofeev who is a partner of the French politician in Russia and urged that greater attention be paid to the contacts of French politicians with Russian businessmen, especially since this could influence the decisions of EU countries regarding events in Ukraine.

He also noted that Pierre de Villiers, brother of Philippe de Villiers, the businessman who last week discussed the development of an amusement park in Crimea with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, is Chief of Staff in the French army.

As UNIAN reported earlier, last week there were reports that Strelkov had been “seriously wounded,” which were denied later. However, it was subsequently reported that he had left his post as defense minister of the Donetsk People’s Republic, which he has held since April 2014.

Also last week the company of Philippe de Villiers, Puy du Fou International SAS, signed a protocol of intentions  with Konstantin Malofeev’s company regarding the construction of a 60-hectare amusement park in Crimea. The required investment is estimated at more than US $100mn.
