Terrorists kidnap another historian in Luhansk

On June 24, armed men kidnapped Serhiy Serhiyenko, a history lecturer at the Volodymyr Dahl East Ukrainian National University, from his own apartment, reports Ukrainska Pravda, citing the news source Informator.

The terrorists tried to break the door with a crowbar and then took computer equipment from Serhiyenko’s apartment. According to witnesses, police were present at the entrance to the building. However, the witnesses report it was impossible to tell if they were Ukrainian police or “police” of the so-called “Luhansk People’s Republic” (LNR).

Citing militant sources, Informator reports  that Serhiyenko was “detained for questioning by the commander” on the personal orders of Valeriy Bolotov (self-proclaimed “governor” of the Luhansk Oblast — Ed.).

However, the militants who are guarding the seized buildings of the Luhansk Oblast State Administration and the Security Service denied that the kidnapped man was with them.

Serhiy Serhiyenko, Ph.D, an associate professor at the East Ukrainian National University, teaches archival studies and the history of Ukrainian culture at the university.

As previously reported, on June 23, LNR terrorists kidnapped Volodymyr Semystyaha, a senior history lecturer at the Luhansk National University.
