Kherson Oblast Authorities Assign Land For Crimean Tatars

The land may be obtained by the Crimean Tatars free of charge under a simplified procedure.

The authorities of the Kherson Oblast have allocated approximately 18,000 land plots for the Crimean Tatars migrants from the Crimea and residents of the Kherson Oblast. The announcement was made by the Head of the State Administration of the Kherson Oblast, Yuriy Odarchenko, during the mourning meeting held in the urban village of Novooleksiyivka, Genichesk Region on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the deportation of the Crimean Tatars. 

“Crimea is and will be a part of Ukraine, the home ground of its indigenous people – the Crimean Tatars. The country will not leave them to their fate. Kherson Oblast is also providing assistance to people who suffer from the aggressor’s oppression. We have allocated land which may be obtained free of charge and under a simplified procedure by representatives of the Crimean Tatar community, including those arriving from the Crimean peninsula and residents of the Kherson Oblast. As of today we have identified approximately 18,000 land plots in different regions of the Kherson Oblast. We have allocated over 9,000 hectares of land”, noted Mr. Odarchenko.

According to Mr. Odarchenko, the designation of these land plots’ is for housing construction, and  agriculture, farming, and orcharding by individuals.

“That is the way we can ensure peace and stability in our common home by supporting each other regardless of the nationality and religion”, said the Head of the State Administration of the Kherson Oblast.

It was mentioned during the meeting there are currently more than 10,000 Crimean Tatars residing in the Kherson Oblast, 8,000 of them living in the Genichesk Region. Over 400 people participated in the meeting in Novooleksiyivka. The meeting was held under the state flags of Ukraine and the Crimean Tatars people.
