Russian occupation troops conduct tank field execise in Abkhazia

489329Russian occupation troops from the Abyuhazii military base will conduct special tactical training exercises at the Tsebelda highland training range, including weapons training exercises on Storm-C anti-tank missile systems. During the live firing exercises, military personnel will use the Storm-C systems to hit targets simulating tanks and other heavy vehicles of a simulated enemy from a distance of up to 1,500 meters.

Preparations for the live firing exercises are being conducted in conjunction with intensive training on the manning, firing, and control of the Storm-C anti-tank missile system. Classes are held on the newest computer simulator designed to develop combat skills for the operators of Storm-C.

The simulator is equipped with a unique hardware and software system which allows operators to conduct real-time instruction and training on targeting and firing from a stationary position at stationary and moving targets at a distance of up to six kilometers.

During the training, the simulator displays the simulated flight trajectory of a projectile and the movements of the surface and air targets, whose sizes vary in proportion to their distance. In addition, the training system can simulate visual interference impacting the operator on firing—flashes, sound effects, smoke, etc. Training on the simulator saves time and money in preparing troops for actual combat operations.

As reported by the press service of the South Military District.
