The testimony of a French citizen and apologies for EU cowardice

The testimony of a French citizen and apologies for EU cowardice

Liberty on the Barricades by Agence France-Press photographer Viktor DrachevSome days are like that, you wake up and you just want to vomit.

The actions of Yanukovych’s regime do not surprise me: what else could we expect from such a criminal regime of liars and thieves? The actions of the Ukrainian people do not surprise me either: after all, what else could they do but fight against such a dictatorship?

What really makes me sick in fact is the way we behave. By “we” I mean “Europe”, by “we”  I mean the “free” world…

For three months Ukrainians have tried to peacefully exercise their rights to freedom and to choose their own future. During these three months, the only response they received from their “government” was provocation, violence, kidnappings, tortures, humiliation and murder!

In the course of three months we, the old and cozy Europe, have made statement after statement saying the same bullshit, over and over: maybe, one day, we might, eventually, impose sanctions. But who cares about that now? People are dying! What Ukraine needs now is much more.

Two days ago Stefan Fuele said that EU is ready to act. Really? When? Is the next statement going to “urgently” ask Yanukovych to resurrect the dead?

It seems that Nuland was right after all: “Fuck EU”!

Even a five-year-old child could understand that this government is obviously a group of criminals, a mafia regime of murderers, that should be brought to the International Court of Justice in The Hague for crimes against humanity. This should be done by force! Afterall, force is the only language they understand.

Even a five-year-old child could understand that this government has never been ready to negotiate with the EU, neither during the two previous years, nor now, when they ambushed the protesters yesterday in order to kill them off.

Even a five-year-old child could understand, that behind all this lies the foul odor of Putin and his megalomaniac desire to restore USSR 2.0. The USSR of Joseph Stalin, who murdered 25 million, including 6 to 8 million of Ukrainians, who died during The 1933’s Holodomor (the biggest genocide in history, and it was not even during war time).

We talk a lot of Hitler but, compared to Stalin, Hitler was a boyscout! At least Germany paid the price and apologized for its awful past. Russia never did! And Putin, a former KGB agent, is the heir of this macabre history…

And don’t tell me we are not allowed to interfere in Ukraine’s domestic affairs, while obvious evidence proves that Russia is interfering: blackmailing with money, threatening politically, imposing economic restrictions, so called “ukrainians police officers” are found wearing russian flags and IDs, torturing and shooting the demonstrators with live ammunition…

What are we waiting for? How hard is it to:

– freeze all the assets of the Yanukovych’s regime in Europe ? We already have all the information…

– arrest all Ukrainian officials and their families in Europe? We already know where they are…

– send UN troops to protect citizens of Ukraine against those barbarians? Isn’t it the purpose of UN?

Did we become so stupid, or hypocritical or cowards?

Whatever the answer, we are guilty. Guilty of letting Yanukovych’s mafia regime  act the way it does. For God’s sake, members of Berkut are kidnapping wounded people from the hospitals!! They are beating innocent civilians to death: old, young, men, women…

We are guilty of allowinvg Sotchi’s Olympic Games of Shame, both an ecological and humanitarian disaster, while Putin’s iron fist is exterminating Ukraine’s culture. Don’t we realise that the Russian regime is just spitting in our faces?

Yes, today I feel sick, sick of being European…

I am sorry Ukraine, so sorry. Please forgive us. We are betraying you, we are letting you die and, in doing so, we are betraying ourselves too. I feel enslaved, enslaved just like you feel enslaved by the system that threatens your dignity.

Shame on us, all of us. Shame on EU.

With Ukraine, it’s not only a hope that is dying, it’s the whole European dream. If we let this happen, Europe is dead: the post WWII Europe, the Europe of people, brotherhood and peace…

There is only one place in Europe where freedom means something today and this place is in Ukraine, at Maidan. If we do not save Ukraine from Yanukovych and Putin, we are doomed, and I hope this war will come upon us as well. We don’t deserve better.

I wish I could be with my Ukrainian brothers and sisters in Maidan right now, fighting alongside them against the Evil, suffering with them for the freedom and, if I have to, dying with them, not as a slave, but as a free man.

In 1789, we fought the French Revolution. It was a bloodbath too. All armies of European countries of that time united to crush us and almost succeeded. But the people rose and fought and eventually won.

Dear Ukrainians, arm yourself, attack the police that betrayed you, take their weapons, burn their vehicles, shoot your enemies to kill: all of them. This regime does not want to stop or arrest you, this regime wants to enslave or kill you.

You don’t need Yanukovych’s resignation anymore, you don’t even need to put him in jail. What you need now is to take him and all his friends and hang them publicly. That is what we did to our king a long time ago because it’s the only way to treat despots.

I know it’s sad. This regime has declared war against you, its own people. It was planned since the beginning, I guess, because none of them is a Ukrainian, they are just traitors of the Nation. A lot of people will have died, many innocent. But neither Yanukovych and his mafia clan, nor Putin and his megalomaniac dreams of “great” Russia can win against you, the people of Ukraine.

I fear you are alone in this fight but I pray I am wrong.

Glory to Ukraine!

Glory to her Heroes!

May God be with you.”
