Russian Foreign Ministry accuses the West of exacerbating the situation in Ukraine

The Russian Foreign Ministry believes that the escalation of the situation in Ukraine is a result of “appeasing the West,” which supports Ukrainian radicals, according to a statement on its website.

The statement said that “the opposition fighters” beat policemen, “set cars on fire, destroyed a pharmacy, attacked the headquarters of the Party of Regions, and blocked the Parliament building.”

“The opposition does not have control over their ranks. Outright abuse of the rule of law, and just over common sense, is apparent,” said the Russian diplomatic office.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has traditionally blamed the West for all that was happening. As Russia perceives it, “What is happening is a direct result of the policy of appeasement on the part of Western politicians and European institutions, which from the beginning of the crisis have turned a blind eye to the aggressive actions of radical forces in Ukraine.”

Russian diplomats called upon the “Ukrainian opposition to abandon threats and ultimatums and establish a meaningful dialogue with the authorities”. As reported earlier, western countries blamed President Viktor Yanukovych and his government for the deterioration of the situation in Ukraine.
