On January 25 at the Vinnytsia Oblast State Administration building, a protest was launched that later turned into an attempt to seize the building. Some protesters broke down the door, rushed into the building and disrupted an extraordinary session of the oblast legislature. The militia opened criminal proceedings related to the seizure of the Vinnytsia OSA building and Oblast Council.

Later it became known that the apartment of Volodymyr Bartsios, a party committee member of Vinnytsia’s Svoboda party and the aid to Andriy Mokhnyk was also searched. Bartsios noted that “these law enforcement actions violate an agreement between the Vinnytsia People’s Council and the heads of Vinnitsia OSA to terminate the repression of protesters.”

The Investigation Department of Vinnytsia Oblast militia based their actions on a court order dated February 7, stating that the local activist of Svoboda’s Volodymyr Bartsios coordinated the actions of other Svoboda activists during the assault of Vinnytsia OSA on January 25. “The militia is looking for sticks and other weapons, as well as documents showing the calls to commit unlawful acts,” said Bartsios.
