New Criminal Case Fabricated Against Yuriy Lutsenko

Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) sent a requested to mass media demanding they “immediately provide all available video materials” containing public declarations of the former minister Yuriy Lutsenko at the Maidan on January 22, 2014.

A copy of the document to this effect was published on Facebook by journalist Mustafa Naiyem.

The subpoena was submitted on the grounds of a criminal proceeding opened under Article 109 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code, on charges of “public appeals to violent change or overthrow of constitutional order or government takeover, or dissemination of materials with appeals to commit any such actions.”

Chief Investigation Office of the Security Service of Ukraine is holding a pre-trial investigation in a criminal proceeding number 22014000000000013 of 23/01/14, based on suspected violations under Section 3 Article 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Based on Article 93 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine, in order to facilitate a swift, comprehensive and impartial investigation, I request that you immediately provide all available video materials containing recordings of declarations by Yuriy Lutsenko made on Independence Square in Kyiv on 22/01/14.
